New device New review. I have recently purchased a new HTC c730. I absolutely love it despite they are a few minor issues. The qwearty keypad is better than the blackjack. It’s easy to thumbs-down and more user-friendly. However, if you like a bigger keypad like the cingular 8525, c730 might not be the one for you. It comes with windows mobile 6, edge, 3G and HSDPA connectivity. Standard bluetooth, wifi, quadband network are supported. It also displays 320×240pixels, camera has 2megapixel, standby time is about 200hrs, preinstalled ram is 64MB. That’s an expandable microSD flash card you can upgrade to 2GB.
On the downside, it has input issues when supporting dot net websites. They are numerous websites that I have encountered problems like Yahoo Go! and MSN Live Search where the log in username and password won’t allow me to enter text field. It only allows numerical numbers. I haven’t tried updating the DOM. That might be the way to solve the issue. I just don’t have time to look into it. It’s kinda cool if I can log into Yahoo Go! since I subscribe to yahoo mail and flickr.
Another issue that I have with c730 it does not support Skype 2.2 mobile. Dopod c730 is not shown on Skype devices but I downloaded c720. It allows you to IM or chat but voice is not supported. When I tried to make a call, it would automatically shut down Skype. I read from the skype forum, it looks like skype does not support 2442A CPU voice function. They are still working a way to fix the c730. Come on skype, we already lost faith in you past few days. Please don’t disappoint us. We need fixes for c730! I just can’t wait to use my skype on my mobile.
This device is like a speed of light. I live in San Francisco, HSDPA is available in downtown and financial district. I get full bar in most places. I also tried tethering from my laptop using a USB cable. Directions how to connect from your laptop using your smartphone it’s a no-brainer. Download the active synch and press internet sharing from your mobile. The device works so fast better than many dial-up connections.
If you can’t wait for HTC kaiser, you may want to consider c730. I know I did.
